What is Smart Tourism in the Greater Bay Area?

BACKGROUND
Smart Tourism in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Forum aims to bring together leading researchers and key stakeholders in the region. The main purpose is to share and exchange experiences relating to smart tourism research; enhancing connectivity and knowledge. Information exchange about smart tourism between the member cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA)  are becoming more important to understand. The forum focuses on what makes a smart tourism destination and how the new developments and technological innovations can support the smart tourism ecosystem. 

TOPIC
The forum will cover a broad range of contemporary topics relating to both conceptual and technical aspects of smart tourism and big data. We invite research ideas on areas including, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Information and Technology Development and Smart Tourism in GBA  
  • Big Data and Its Ecosystem  
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship  
  • Artificial Intelligent

  • Cross-border Regional Tourism Planning and Development  
  • Other papers related to the theme of the Forum   

AIM OF THE FORUM
  • To provide a platform for researchers and stakeholders to share insights on development strategies for designing smart GBA destinations 
  • To enhance technology and knowledge spillovers across borders in the GBA 
  • To set up a unified database platform for the GBA and to facilitate the simultaneous and timely release of data across the three regions of the GBA (HK, Guangdong, Macao) 

​WHO SHOULD ATTEND AND WHY?
Scholars and practitioners in Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Macao will exchange insights and share experiences in developing a “Smart GBA” which would foster mutual opportunity and collaboration for the development of GBA smart tourism, and further strengthen GBA governance, coordination, and integration. Key speakers who have experiences in smart tourism design and big data analytics from interdisciplinary academic backgrounds and related industries will also be invited.
